Speech-Language Pathologist 

What is your favourite memory from U of G?

My favourite memories from U of G are related to my involvement on campus. I was a Peer Helper at Co-operative Education and Career Services, co-president of the Biochemistry Student Association, and research project and co-op student in Dr. Jim Uniacke's lab. Through these involvements, I formed life-long friendships, and participated in many fun events, including College Royal, Relay For Life, and painting the Cannon!

What is your GOLD Moment since you've graduated from U of G?

In 2019, I completed my Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist at a private practice, and primarily support preschool and school-age children, and their families. I'm thankful that a career advisor at U of G brought the field of speech-language pathology to my attention because it is well suited to my interests in health science, education, and research.

What advice would you give our 2021 graduates who are entering our Alumni Family (tonight/June 24)?

Talk to people about their career paths, follow your interests, and don't be afraid to change fields! Many of your experiences and skills are both valuable and transferable, even if they don't appear to be on the surface. Although I changed fields from molecular & cellular biology to speech-language pathology, the critical thinking and problem-solving skills (among others) that I developed working in the lab have continued to serve me well in my chosen field.
