The 2017 UGAA Awards of Excellence!

A night of celebration, alumni pride and good company.

Hosted at the new Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the gala is one of the marquee alumni events of the year. Guests were greeted by the UGAA President Brandon Gorman before walking down the red carpet into the new 2,200 seat event centre.

Appetizers and wine accompanied a silent auction that raised over $3,000 for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship. The award winning hospitality team served an exquisite dinner that showcased one of the many reasons why Guelph is Canada’s Food University.

But the main course of the evening was truly the award winners:

Alumni Medal of Achievement

The creators of AsapSCIENCE Mitch Moffit, B.Sc. ’10 and Greg Brown, B.Sc. ’11. Successful YouTubers with close to 7M subscribers, making science accessible and fun for everyone!

Alumni Volunteer Award

W. Brian Little ADA ’67, B.Sc.(Agr.) ’72, M.Sc. ’78, OAC alumnus, dedicated volunteer and fundraiser committed to increasing the number of OAC grads to meet industry demand.

Alumna of Honour

Judy Maddren B.A.Sc. ’72, one of the first female broadcasters in Canada and host of CBC’s World Report for close to 20 years.
