UGAA Message - March 2017

Volunteering at U of G

The University of Guelph will always hold a special place in my heart (as it does for all Gryphons).

That’s why I wanted to stay involved with the University after I made my highly anticipated walk across the stage to receive my diploma. I didn’t want to lose the connections and sense of community I had created for myself while attending university.

After graduation I began researching opportunities for alumni to volunteer with the University and stumbled across the UGAA (University of Guelph Alumni Association).

This was the opportunity I was looking for! I was immediately part of a community of fellow Guelph alumni who remain active and engaged in all things Guelph. Soon I was attending Guelph alumni events both on and off campus and I was volunteering at recruiting events where I was able to share my great experiences with new and future Gryphons.

I quickly began to realize that there is more to being an alumna than attending football games and reminiscing about lunches in The Bullring and pulling all-nighters. I redirected my passion for Guelph into volunteering and helping the school and community develop.

There is no guidebook on how to be an “alumna or alumnus” – so make your own definition! Show your Gryphon pride by becoming an ambassador or by attending alumni events across the world.

The UGAA is here to support its alumni and want you to stay connected with your Guelph family!
