UGAA Message - September 2018

Welcome to the New UGAA President!

As a student, athlete, volunteer, donor, and proud supporter of the University of Guelph, I’m honoured to serve in a new role as President of the University of Guelph Alumni Association (UGAA).  The UGAA Board is made up of a diverse group of dedicated individuals who all share the same spirit, energy and love for our alma mater. I would like to thank our outgoing President, Brandon Gorman, for his leadership and dedication to the UGAA and the broader University of Guelph community. Brandon, and our outgoing Past President, Brad Rooney, played a key role in stewarding a number of important alumni legacy initiatives over their tenures, including: $1 million in seed funding for the very successful First-Year Seminar Program, the purchase of the Gryphon statue at the corner of Stone and Gordon, financial support for the new Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, and the development of the new Alumni Plaza outside War Memorial Hall, just to name a few.

Looking forward, we hope to see many of you at this year’s Homecoming on September 22nd.  For those planning on making the trip to watch our Gryphons pummel Queen’s, I’d also encourage you to consider attending the UGAA Homecoming Pre-Game Party at the Brass Taps, I’ll even let you buy me a beer. Cheers!

Richard Horne

UGAA President
