Students in the Humanities/Fine Arts are creative, detail-oriented and focused, which makes them well suited to advancing innovation both inside and outside academia. Our goal is to raise $1,000,000 to assist undergraduate and graduate students in these programs.
Humanities education is of immense value underlying the career paths of many successful graduates. It teaches critical thinking and the application of practical judgement in areas of human affairs where objective evidence is scarce and where problems present themselves every day that require imaginative, innovative solutions.
Employers seek BA graduates because they possess a solid and nimble tool kit of skills; employers then train our students for the specifics of the position, with many rising to management. They also serve Canadian society through their contributions to arts and culture, education, journalism, government, and many other areas.
Currently, the COA is underserved in terms of available scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students. By investing here, we will help gifted students fulfill their potential.
Since scholars in the Humanities and Fine Arts do not run labs, students in these areas cannot be primarily supported by external research funding. Support for these scholarships and bursaries will be used to reward the very best students in COA majors to ensure that they can continue their education.
