Giving Tuesday Now

To the U of G community,

The University's student food bank regularly serves about 200 people per week, but our current crisis means that some students can't afford the basics. With more than 400 people in need of help, we asked the University community to support the student food bank on Tuesday, May 5, (#GivingTuesdayNow). The University of Guelph Alumni Association (UGAA) offered to match gifts and double the impact of each donation. Your response was overwhelming. Thanks to you, we were able to donate $24,370 to the food bank and provide emergency relief to students in need. 

Our community and our students are truly grateful for your support. In the words of one international grad student: "To be honest, I have a hard time recalling the foods I used to love. These days, it's all about sustaining myself. I knew how to do a bit of cooking, but I was never taught how to eat alone. Accessing the food bank means a lot. It feels like people actually care. All your acts of kindness helped me to survive and stay healthy in these dreadful times."
