Sandy Kennedy | Alumni | University of Guelph

Sandy Kennedy

Why do you choose to stay connected to U of G?

I choose to stay connected as an alumna because my time at the University was a priceless chapter of my life. From the friends that I made, involvement in numerous clubs and my exchange to Australia, these things have shaped me both professionally and on a personal level. I never knew that the roommates I met in first year in Mills Hall (you know!) would turn into life-long friendships, and our children would grow up together.

What makes you most proud to be a Gryphon?

I am most proud of being a Gryphon because of our unique and inclusive culture. It is no wonder that all my close friends are U of G alumni! This precious culture is one that I feel is important to preserve and ensure that current and future students continue to benefit from it.

What's your favourite part of being on the UGAA board?

I feel honoured to be able to contribute to something I am passionate about. It is also a wonderful way for me to stay connected with the University. I have so enjoyed being part of the past few Alumni Weekends and hearing all the stories! Witnessing the comradery of alumni celebrating their 20, 30, and 40-year anniversaries and hearing their stories is truly inspiring! It really shows that as much as things change, just as many things stay the same!

What’s your favourite U of G tradition?

I would have to say that painting the cannon is my favourite memory. Especially camping out all night to ensure that no one paints over it!
