University of Guelph alumni are doing extraordinary things around the world. The University of Guelph Alumni Awards of Excellence is an event that celebrates exceptional alumni and their outstanding accomplishments.
Before submitting a nomination, please take a moment to review the criteria for each award listed below. The deadline to submit nominations is March 1, 2025.
The Alumni of Honour award recognizes the achievements of alumni who have brought great honour to their alma mater through professional, community and/or personal endeavours.
Established in 1970, the Alumni of Honour Award recognizes alumni whose contributions to the community, science, education, business, industry, and the arts are so significant that they bring honour to the University and fellow alumni. This award is generally given for lifetime achievement or sustained commitment to excellence. Nominations should demonstrate both the professional and volunteer contributions made on international, national, provincial and/or local levels as well as the candidate’s demonstrated leadership in business, cultural activities, or other organizations.

Only University of Guelph graduates are eligible.

Past recipients are not eligible for a duplicate award, but may be eligible for other University of Guelph Alumni Association (UGAA) Awards.

Evaluation
A deliberation committee with members from the University of Guelph Alumni Association, Alumni Affairs & Development, and Communications and Public Affairs make decisions based on the nominee’s career success, leadership, contributions to their profession, community, and the University of Guelph.
The Alumni Volunteer Award honours alumni who have demonstrated loyalty and commitment to their alma mater by supporting the University of Guelph through their volunteer work.
In 1994, the Alumni Volunteer Award was established to recognize and thank alumni who have supported the growth and vibrance of the University and their own communities through volunteerism. This award recognizes those who have selflessly given their time and energy through volunteer work with students, faculty, or alumni of the University. Nominators should demonstrate how the nominee has made a difference to the University by identifying the length of their volunteer involvement, areas of concentration and examples of the nominee’s loyalty and commitment.

Evaluation
A deliberation committee with members from the University of Guelph Alumni Association, Alumni Affairs & Development, and Communications and Public Affairs make decisions based on the nominee’s leadership, impact, and service to the University of Guelph and community.
The Young Alumni Award (formerly the Alumni Medal of Achievement) recognizes a recent graduate under the age of 35, who has achieved excellence through contributions to country, community, profession or the world of academia.
Since 1972, the University of Guelph Alumni Association has honoured the excellence of recent graduates through the Young Alumni Award. Nominations should demonstrate significant professional and/or volunteer leadership.
