Why does staying strong get harder as we age, even when we think we’re eating well? In this talk, Dr. Nunes will explain how aging changes the way our bodies use the protein in the food we eat and why that matters for strength, energy, and metabolic health. He will also address common myths and provide realistic, evidence-based guidance for supporting healthy aging.
Speaker

Dr. Everson Nunes is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology and Metabolism at the University of Guelph. His work focuses on how food, protein, amino acids, and physical activity influence muscle function and metabolic health. With training in physiology, nutrition, and molecular biology, he has led human research examining diet quality and metabolic health, as well as how different types and amounts of protein affect muscle function, body composition, and overall metabolism. Beyond the laboratory, Dr. Nunes is committed to making nutrition and exercise science understandable and practical. He works to translate research findings into clear, evidence-based guidance that helps people make informed decisions about what to eat and how to stay active in order to maintain strength, independence, and long-term health at every stage of life.
