Letters to First-Year Gryphons!

You are invited to connect with a first-year student by sharing with them your encouragement, support or advice. This is a unique year, with most students living off-campus and only those with the greatest need living in residence. Write a postcard to help them feel encouraged and welcomed to the U of G family no matter where they are located. Letters will be shared with students at the end of November - just in time for exams.

Formerly known as “Once a Gryphon, Always a Gryphon,” the Letters to First-Year Gryphons program was a project created by third-year Arts and Science students at the University of Guelph in 2017. It continues today to help build a sense of community between alumni and current students of the University.

To make your letter as amazing as possible for the student you're supporting, please note the following guidelines:

  • Keep it concise; follow the word limits
  • Keep it appropriate; postcards should not include any content that could be offensive to students
  • Keep it accessible; limit use of inside jokes or references that students might not understand

Letter submission deadline: October 30th, 2020
