We appreciate your gift to support the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences' highest priority. Some of those funds have supported travel grants for students to participate in a new Field School on Yukon Food Security in Northern Canada.

Jocelyn Wanders was one of the students who took part and writes below about her experiences:

“Thank you. Because of your contribution, I was able to participate in the Yukon Field School. We learned how climate change is deeply affecting the traditional ways of living, and we also learned how people are adapting to it. We also learned about food systems in the northern climate, and how there is much hope for improvement. So much of what is happening in the Yukon is unknown to the average Canadian, and only education can change that. The Field School reminded me that Canada needs to work on development just as much as anywhere else in the world.”

Field schools are just one example of experiential learning opportunities that make a difference for students by allowing them to combine their academics with hands-on learning. Thank you again for your support.
