SPATULA Foods, an innovative Canadian gourmet meal kit company, co-founded by University of Guelph alumna Shela Kwong, BASc. '12, recently achieved a significant milestone on CBC's "Dragons' Den." The company, known for its quick and high-quality flash-frozen meal kits, impressed all five Dragons, securing investment offers from each. After intense negotiations, Kwong and her co-founders accepted a $500,000 investment from their preferred Dragon, Arlene Dickinson.

The company's menu features over 40 restaurant-quality dishes, all ready in just 10 minutes using a pan and spatula. This innovative use of flash-freezing technology caters to a variety of customers, including home cooks, new parents, and busy professionals. SPATULA's meals are accessible online, either through a subscription service or as one-time orders. Each dish, serving two, comes in a flash-frozen, vacuum-sealed pouch, starting at $9.98 per plate. Dragon Manjit Minhas noted the innovation, remarking on its distinctiveness from typical food boxes. Learn more about SPATULA
