Help the U of G Alumni Association Improve Student Experience

Posted: Mar 29, 2022

The University of Guelph Alumni Association (UGAA) is a long-standing partner of the University, sharing a vision for excellence in the student experience, and an approach that embraces equity, diversity and inclusion. We are pleased to announce that we are currently looking for five new members to join our board.

“We encourage our alumni to consider applying to be part of our Alumni Association Board and take advantage of this professional development opportunity while giving back to U of G.

We're extremely proud of the work we're doing through our Association, representing our 180,000+ alumni worldwide. We're committed to supporting new initiatives on campus that contribute to student programming, a foundation to a great experience at the University of Guelph. We're equally committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in all of our efforts, as we continue to grow our vibrant alumni community.

We would love your help to support student initiatives and foster connections in our alumni community by joining our Board of Directors.” ~ Christina Crowley-Arklie, President, University of Guelph Alumni Association

Building our Board through Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The UGAA has launched an evaluation of approaches that will enhance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in our recruitment practices, and build awareness of EDI among our current and future board members. Over the last eight months, the board reviewed processes, policies and communications relating to board recruitment and selection with a lens on encouraging and increasing diversity and inclusion. The UGAA has committed to education for all current and future board members including the online U of G training called Principles of Belonging: Introduction to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.

Responding to Increased Need for Mental Health Support

The UGAA has committed to help fund a counsellor for student-athletes to accommodate the increased demand during the pandemic for Mental Health Services. This one-time $15,000-gift will go towards filling the gap in funding to support students.
