Food Science Humanitarian

Working in one of the most secretive countries to improve food security and safety: alumna Carol Chui knows it first-hand. North Korea has faced many hardships that have impacted food supply, such as a harsh climate and natural disasters. Issues within North Korea have made it oftentimes difficult for Carol and her team to receive the necessary commodities and finances to support their efforts. Isolation and missing home are frequent emotions for Carol in Pyongyang. However, her passion for helping others and sense of humour gets her through.
